Midi files are lots of fun. In addition to providing some entertainment while working or playing on your PC, they are good introductions to some music you may not be familiar with. I hope you will find a few files that will encourage you to go out and buy the original recordings of these pieces, and in that way encourage the performers and/or songwriters to continue to use their talents to entertain us.
These pieces are reflective of my somewhat eclectic tastes in music. I spend a lot of time searching the web for the best available sound files. As a former musician, I am very fussy about getting accurate music.
I sample all the files I make available for download on my AMD Athlon system, equipped with a Aureal Vortex-2 "A3D" sound card and 200 watt speaker system. If they don't sound good on my system - they probably won't sound very good on yours. I only keep files that sound as much as possible like the originally released song. If you want to hear the songs properly, I seriously recommend you use at least a 32 voice card and some decent speakers or headphones - you will enjoy them a lot more!

If anyone knows who sequenced any of the un-attributed files above - please let me know so I can do so!
I'm happy to announce that two MIDI's above - "Children of Sanchez" and "Hide and Seek", both by Chuck Mangione, were sent to me by a visitor and fellow brass player and MIDI sequencer named Gary Badger, from Sydney, Australia. Gary did a great job on these two MIDI's. Any fan of Mangione will know the Children of Sanchez main theme, and I seriously recommend this album to anyone interested in expressive music - there are cuts on the disk that will make a grown man cry. I hope other visitors will send me files they have created, so we can share with others!
Need a good MIDI File player for your Win95 system? vanBrasco's Midi Player is a great one with really cool graphics and features! You can get the latest version right HERE at my website! It's only 399k!
Another player a lot of people really like - because it also plays CD disks, WAV and MP3 files is WinAMP. I use it myself frequently because it uses playlists for my extensive collections of MIDI's and MP3's. Take the link below to get it - FREE
While both Netscape 4.xx and MSIE 4.xx have a built-in sound file player, neither can do what a custom plug-in can do. Crescendo's Live Update is a plug-in I recommend to fully enjoy MIDI files. Click the graphic below to get the file.
I've been searching
for a way to find out what individual did the sequencing on my collection
of Midi files so I can credit the author properly. I just came upon a great
program for any Midi collector - called the Midi Toolbox! This program,
which is freeware to private users, was programmed by Alex van den Berg
and is just unbelievable in what it can do. You can use it as a general
midi player, or with the set of internal tools you can crack the midi code
and see on screen who sequenced the file, any copyrights, tracks, even
lyrics if they're imbedded! You can get this program at Alex's website
at Midi Toolbox Website
This is a must have program!
